RTA Maintained 2173 Lighting Units on Cycling Tracks in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently completed the maintenance of 2,173 lighting units across four major cycling and e-scooter tracks: Al Qudra, Jumeirah, Nad Al Sheba, and Mirdif & Mushrif.

This initiative ensures that these tracks remain safe and well-lit for evening and night-time use, promoting the health and well-being of both residents and visitors in Dubai.

Importance of Track Lighting Maintenance

The RTA’s efforts are not just about lighting up pathways; they are part of a broader strategy to enhance the quality and safety of Dubai’s infrastructure.

Maintaining these lighting units is crucial for preserving the RTA’s assets, extending their operational lifespan, and ensuring that cyclists and e-scooter riders can enjoy smooth and safe rides.

Proper lighting allows for better visibility and helps prevent accidents, especially during evening hours when these tracks are often used.

How RTA Maintains Lighting Units

RTA follows a comprehensive approach to maintaining lighting units on these tracks. The maintenance is divided into two main categories:

  1. Preventive Maintenance: This involves regular checks on the operational status of lighting poles, cleaning, lubrication, and ensuring that all electrical connections are functioning correctly. Preventive maintenance helps to avoid unexpected malfunctions and keeps the lighting system running efficiently.
  2. Corrective Maintenance: This type of maintenance is performed when there is a malfunction in the lighting network. It involves quick fixes to restore lighting functionality, ensuring that the tracks are never left in the dark for long.

Community Involvement and Feedback

RTA values the input of community members and partners. Maintenance activities are not solely based on inspections by RTA staff but also incorporate feedback from the public.

RTA encourages residents and visitors to report any issues they notice through the RTA Call Centre, the Madinati service within the RTA App, or via government partners.

This collaborative approach ensures that any lighting issues are addressed promptly, keeping the tracks safe and accessible at all times.
