Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled four new metro bus link routes scheduled to begin operations on 30 August 2024. These changes are part of a broader initiative to enhance the city’s public transport network, providing smoother and faster travel for residents and visitors across the Emirate.

Overview of the 4 New Metro Bus Link Routes
The RTA has introduced the following four new metro bus routes, each designed to replace existing routes and offer more efficient connectivity between metro stations and key locations across Dubai:
Route F39: Etisalat Bus Station to Oud Al Muteena Roundabout
- Replaces: Route 31
- Frequency: Every 30 minutes
- Description: This route connects the Etisalat Metro Station to Oud Al Muteena Roundabout, facilitating easy access for commuters in the surrounding residential and commercial areas. The 30-minute frequency ensures a reliable option for those relying on public transport for their daily commute.
Route F40: Etisalat Bus Station to Mirdif, Street 78
- Replaces: Route 31
- Frequency: Every 30 minutes
- Description: This route serves residents and businesses in the Mirdif area, providing a direct link to the Etisalat Metro Station. The regular service ensures convenient access to one of Dubai’s key residential neighborhoods.
Route F58: Al Khail Metro Station to Dubai Internet City
- Replaces: Route F56
- Frequency: Every 30 minutes
- Description: This route is essential for those working or visiting Dubai Internet City, a hub for technology and innovation. The connection to Al Khail Metro Station improves accessibility for professionals commuting to this busy district.
Route F59: Dubai Internet City Metro Station to Dubai Knowledge Village
- Replaces: Route F56
- Frequency: Every 30 minutes
- Description: This route enhances connectivity between two key educational and business hubs in Dubai: Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Village. The frequent service supports the significant commuter traffic between these locations.
Additional Changes to Existing Bus Routes
In addition to the introduction of the new metro bus links, the RTA has announced several adjustments to existing bus routes to improve overall service efficiency:
- Route 21 Split: This route will be divided into two new routes, 21A and 21B, to provide more precise coverage. Route 21A will run from Al Quoz Clinical Pathology Services to Al Ghubaiba Bus Station, while Route 21B will cover the reverse direction.
- Route 61D Merger: Route 61D will be merged with Route 66 to streamline services along the combined route, improving coverage and reducing travel time.
- Route 95 Merging: This route will merge with Route 95A, now extending from Veneto, Jebel Ali Waterfront, to Parco Hypermarket, covering Jebel Ali Industrial Area. The route will also connect with Route X92.
- Route 6 Shortening: Route 6 will now run only from Oud Metha Metro Station to Dubai Healthcare City, focusing on a more direct service in this medical hub area.
- Route 99 Modification: Route 99 will now include a stop at JAFZA One, enhancing access to this key business area in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
- Route F31: New stops will be added in The Greens, providing better service to this residential area.
- Route F45: This route will now include new stops in Al Furjan, while the JAFZA One stop will be removed from Route F54.
- Route E700 Change: The intercity Route E700 will now start from Etisalat Bus Station instead of Union Bus Station, offering a more streamlined service for commuters traveling between Dubai and Fujairah.
Enhancements Across 35 Other Bus Routes
In addition to the new routes and adjustments, the RTA has also announced enhancements to 35 other bus routes across Dubai. These improvements aim to ensure more timely arrivals, better service coverage, and an overall enhanced commuting experience for public transport users.
The RTA’s Expansive Bus Network
Dubai’s bus network, managed by the Public Transport Agency (PTA), is already extensive, with a fleet of 1,518 buses operating across 119 internal lines.
This includes 35 lines linking directly to metro stations, 12 intercity lines connecting Dubai to other emirates, and 62 internal lines serving various urban areas within Dubai.
The network also includes 8 fast lines for quicker transit across key routes. Covering 82% of Dubai’s urban areas, this network transports approximately 369,248 passengers daily.
