Dubai Opens Air-Conditioned Rest Areas for Delivery Riders

In a move to improve the working conditions of delivery riders, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched 20 air-conditioned rest areas across the city.

With a total of 40 planned, these facilities are designed to support riders who spend long hours on the road in often challenging weather conditions.

Comfortable Rest Stops for Delivery Riders

These new rest areas are not just for relaxation—they are equipped with several convenient amenities. Riders can enjoy:

  • Air Conditioning: A cool space to escape the heat.
  • Snack Vending Machines: Easy access to quick refreshments.
  • Water Dispensers: Stay hydrated during breaks.
  • Mobile Charging Stations: Keep phones fully charged and ready for the next delivery.

Each rest area can accommodate up to 10 riders at a time, with designated parking spots for motorcycles next to the facility, ensuring safety and convenience for all riders.

Strategic Locations Across Dubai

The RTA has strategically placed these rest areas in high-demand locations where delivery services are most active. These locations include:

  • Hessa Street
  • Al Barsha Heights
  • Jumeirah (Al Wasl Road)
  • Business Bay
  • Dubai Marina
  • International City
  • Arabian Ranches

These areas are known for high volumes of delivery services, ensuring that riders will find a nearby rest stop when needed.

Enhancing Road Safety and Rider Well-Being

The introduction of these rest stops is part of Dubai’s commitment to road safety and improving the well-being of delivery riders. This initiative aligns with the city’s Traffic Safety Strategy, which aims for “Zero Fatalities” on the roads.

By offering a space for riders to rest and recharge, the RTA is encouraging better compliance with traffic laws, leading to safer roads for everyone.

Supporting Dubai’s Growing Delivery Sector

With over 2,500 companies providing delivery services in Dubai and 40,000 delivery bikes in operation, the delivery sector continues to expand rapidly.

The addition of these rest areas reflects Dubai’s proactive approach to supporting this essential workforce while fostering a safer and more sustainable urban environment.
